Comparative Analysis of Groundwater Quality Index for Bhavani River Basin Using Remote Sensing and Statistical Analysis

This research was conducted to examine the drinking (WQI1) and irrigation (WQI2) water quality for Bhavani river basin using statistical methodologies. The study area geographically covers up 4207 km2. For evaluating Water Quality Index (WQI), fourteen groundwater parameters were employed data gathered two decades (1972–1990 & 2010–2019). include TDS, pH, EC, TH, Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, K+, CO3 2-, HCO3 - , NO3 Cl- F- SO4 2-. weightage arithmetic approach utilized compute WQI1 all spatially represented Arc GIS 10.3 software. To WQI2, Sodium Absorption Ratio (SAR), Percentage (%Na), Residual Carbonate (RSC), Magnesium Hazard (MHR), Kelly's (KR), Permeability (PI) Potential Salinity are employed. hydro-geochemical features statistically examined Piper trilinear diagram, Gibbs plot, correlation matrix PCA biplot. results suggest that irrigation-and drinking-water is worsening from 2% 44% of studied region. Statistical analysis also yields satisfactory findings both decades. According geochemical study, anion cation ranking 1972 decade Mg2+> Ca+> Na+> K+=Cl- >HCO3 ->CO3 2->SO4 while 2019 K+=HCO3 >Cl- >SO4 2->CO3 2->F- . indicates viable locations reasons, low areas need effective treatment procedures before utilization.
